Cool whispers, subtler opacities
Saffron dissolves into the soil
Cinnamon on the wind.
Godspeed summer, and your reckless momentum
Ah, how we'll miss you
Drearier days await
We rise and fall with the sun
Return to a simpler routine
Running to the rhythm of Equatorial days
Heaving blood from heart to muscle,
Muscle to heart,
Heart to lung
Just as we always have
Racing, always onwards, to renewal.
