Hare A.C.
2022 Round-up

When we launched Hare A.C. in 2018, our vision was to build a global community of committed runners, united by a passion for racing and the camaraderie formed through shared goals and experiences. Seeing that community grow over recent years has been incredibly rewarding, and 2022 felt like a real step change, with in-person events taking place across the US and Europe. The Marathon Majors are always nervous, exciting, and inspirational events for us and we hope that Hare A.C. activities at those races offered some peace and tranquility among the stress and stimulation of those high-intensity weekends. From Tracksmith’s point of view, it was great to be back up and running and meeting you face-to-face after the covid hiatus; if you’re a Hare A.C. member and you made it to one of our events this year, thanks so much for taking the time to join us.

Summer

Throughout the summer, we traveled around smaller events taking the Hare A.C. gospel to the people, first in London, with our inaugural Amateur Mile, and then around the US at our series of Twilight 5000 races, Grandma’s Marathon, the US Trials and the Falmouth Road Race.

At Hayward Field and the World Championships, we had 13 athletes competing from the Amateur Support Program side of Hare A.C. and seeing them on the world stage was a huge privilege and inspiration.

Fall

Berlin. London. Chicago. New York. CIM. Never has the world known such a stellar period of top level marathon competition, and boy was it exciting (if a little exhausting at times). As Nick Willis said in his October dispatch to Hare A.C. members:

“In the span of 14 days, we opened a store in London, launched footwear, hosted marathon pop-ups in Berlin, London and Chicago, and unveiled a collaboration with J.Crew. These are really exciting times to be working for the brand, but the highlight for me on return from my two months of parental leave was reading all your PR bonus submissions.”

And it’s true: your performances this year have been incredible, even when nature played hardball with the runners with a late fall heatwave in New York, the Hare A.C. lounge was full of smiling faces and tales of cramp and dehydration that will last for decades.

As the year came to a close, we hosted a final hospitality suite at CIM, where we knew there would be a whole bunch of you going for PRs and maybe even OTQs. We weren’t wrong: we’re still catching up with the PRs but so far in 2022, we’ve processed close to 500 PR Bonus requests, with a huge wave arriving late this fall. Whether you ran a PR over the Mile or the Marathon this year, congratulations – here’s to maintaining momentum in 2023!
