Donuts:
The Original Post-Run Fuel
Photography by Paul Saraceno
Chocolate, old-fashioned, strawberry glazed, jelly, sprinkles, or just plain old sugar dipped – we all have our favorites. When we're 16 glycogen-depleting miles into our run, the thought of chomping into a fresh doughnut helps us get through the final slog – no matter what time of the year.
Since its inception, our annual Donut Day collection has become a cherished tradition for our community. Donuts are a tongue-in-cheek way to refuel our carb-indebted muscles post-run, and they’re also a way to break bread with friends and teammates who shared the miles with us. Regardless of your personal preference in flavor, it’s undeniable that biting into a donut is one of life’s simple pleasures.
In 2016, we launched the first-ever Donut collection on National Donut Day and had just the t-shirts to celebrate. We’ve continued to update our donut design over the years, but we’re excited to share this year’s collection with you – inspired by an ode to the donut. The original post-run fuel.

Favorite donut: Bismarck donut
Where to run in the area before grabbing a donut: I'm highly motivated by sights and sounds. One of my favorite routes in the city is a Chinatown to South End loop. Starting in Chinatown, you'll run through bustling streets filled with shops and restaurants, before reaching the historic Boston Common and Public Garden. From there, you'll continue your run through the South End via Tremont Street, where you'll find Blackbird Donuts. You can't go wrong with their Bismarck donut, made with brioche, house-made jam or cream, and vanilla sugar.

Where to run in the area before grabbing a donut: A little loop of Hyde Park around the Serpentine, ending at Picton Place for a donut. Or even better, team it up after a long run and finish there with an iced tea and donut on a warm day – always tastes that bit sweeter.
