On the Go

In the sixties, a New Haven-based clothier tweaked the silhouette of the sport shirt so that the buttons ended at the bottom of the wearer’s chest. This tweak meant you’d have to pop it over to get it on, hence the name “popover.” Our version returns the sport to the style. Made from a lightweight, breathable, four-way stretch, this is a highly technical spin on the button-down silhouette that can handle everything from a morning shakeout to a sprint through a terminal. Cut for layering in a unisex fit, it features a classic tailoring detail including a three-button placket and collar with stays. Elasticated cuffs and a zippered back pocket reinforce the shirt’s on-the-go utility. (For women, we recommend purchasing one size down from.)

The popover features a zippered back pocket hidden on the wearer’s right hand side that will fit a credit card or keys.

Our cross country-edition popover is made from a unique two-way stretch flannel fabric. Cut for layering, it features a classic collar with stays, snap placket and elasticated cuffs, plus mesh panels at the back for breathability. It’s finished with a zippered back hip pocket.

On the Move

2:09 marathoner and Tracksmith team member Mick Iacofano flew from Boise to Boston to race his first Marathon Major. With two flights and a 4:00 a.m. start to his travel day, dressing for comfort was a top priority to ensure he felt rested and ready to go on race day. On Marathon Monday, Mick went out with the lead pack and hung on to finish 17th overall and 6th American in 2:11. Not bad for his first effort on the world stage.

“Given multiple chances, I would run that race the same way every time," Mick wrote post-race. "I believe I can be a world-class athlete and that's who I need to race when I hit the road. While disappointed with the results, I couldn't be happier with effort.”

There and Back

Tracksmith Community Manager Erica Stanley Dottin made the trip to Boston with her Black Roses teammates, driving up from New York on Saturday. She wore our Rapid Transit kit around town for her pre-race errands and on the train home on Tuesday. On Marathon Monday, Erica took aim at breaking 3:00 and came up a little over a minute short.

Still, her 3:01:56 was a PR and earned her 9th place in her Master’s age group. "I gave it all during training and on race day," she wrote. "Resting in these truths and receiving all of the things that I’m still learning about myself on this journey are the marathon’s gifts.”

Vermont Weekend

George Espino, Kenyetta Iyevbele and Mitchell Black wore the popover over a long weekend of training and exploring in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. 

The crew stayed at Craftsbury Outdoor Center, a runner's oasis with miles of dirt roads, locally sourced food in the cafeteria and a general store filled with post-workout treats.
