Trackhouse Mile | Tracksmith

After a short break, Tracksmith is excited to announce the return of the Trackhouse Mile. As part of Open Newbury Street on October 15th, the Trackhouse Mile will kick off the day’s festivities with an all-comers mile race on Newbury Street, the home of our original Boston Trackhouse.

There’s nothing quite like a road mile. The track mile is predictable as we circle the track counterclockwise and receive a lap-by-lap gut check. The road mile offers fun through its equalizing variables: sharp turns, inclines, declines and competition over terrain we traverse on foot, by bike, and by car daily. While the track mile celebrates precision, the road mile celebrates pure racing against your peers.

Heats

Races will be broken into heats based on ability. Heats will get faster as the morning progresses. The first heat will start shortly after 10:00 a.m. Please expect heat sizes of around 50 runners. Final heat assignments will be sent out prior to the race.

The Course

The out-and-back course starts near the intersection of Newbury Street and Mass Avenue, continues east down Newbury Street before making a sharp, hairpin turn before Dartmouth Street. The race then continues west on Newbury headed back towards Mass Avenue and finishes back at the start.

Awards

Prizes Categories Include:

Top 3 Men, Top 3 Women, Top 3 Non-Binary Finishers will win $150, $100, and $50 gift cards, respectively
Overall Masters Champions (40+ Men, 40+ Women) will receive a $150 gift card
"The Rabbit" – awarded to the first overall male and female to reach the 1/2 mile mark of the race – will get a $100 gift card
Team Challenge – awarded to the team of 2 men and 2 women with the fastest cumulative time – will get a $500 Cash Prize

Packet Pick-Up

Numbers will be available for pickup during our Trackhouse hours on Friday, October 13th, and Saturday, October 14th from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Limited number pick-up will be available on Sunday, October 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Post Race

After the race, join us for the awards ceremony and post-race celebration at the Trackhouse, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
